I got a recommendation about a month ago to buy the VIX ETF. I thought about it long and hard, but figured it was too risky, as I am more conservatively bent when it comes to investing. Well -- today I could have cashed in a thousand dollar investment for a cool $300,000.

Oh well - one thing that I've learned from investing is to not chase stuff. I didn't buy it before, and I'm not going to buy it now. The risk/reward was actually quite attractive before, and I hope I have learned a lesson to look for that kind of risk-reward situation again in the future and act on it.
