Last month I had a post on the S&P showing signs of Distribution in the Candlestick Analysis, which I highlighted in Blue Ovals on the Daily chart right hand side below. One resembled a "Spinning Top" and the other resembled a "Hanging Man". The hanging man is similar to a "Hammer" in that is has a large wick below the body of a candle. However a hammer at the bottom of a trend indicates strong demand. This type of candle near the top of a trend was a sign that supply was entering the market. Japanese Candlesticks need confirmation and the following week was a strong week in price negating the prior two candles for the time being.
This week there is what I believe to be another bearish candle to keep an eye on. It resembles a bearish "Engulfing Pattern", however this week's body or opening and closing range, doesn't quite "engulf" the prior body, but it is close. However this week saw higher highs and a lower close, as well as lower lows. While volume data comparison is skewed with last week being shortened by one day, this weeks volume was above average. It is another caution flag that there is high risk going long Equities in my opinion. Next week it will be important to see if there is a weekly candle with lower lows and lower highs and a lower close with increasing volume. Near term the Bulls did a huge service taking back the significant multipoint trendline support that had failed on the Hourly chart. I will be looking for follow through or a move lower early next week in order to day-trade long or short. The NYSE 52 week highs minus 52 week lows indicator has also been consistently weakening. A sign "under the hood" that things are not as strong as they may appear in the headline indexes. In yesterday's post I mentioned the Nasdaq 100 had a potential change in trend coming on the Daily chart, and initially when the trendline broke it was downhill, but the Bulls were dip buying on the open of the day session and didn't stop for the most part pushing the Nasdaq 100 back up to the prior trendline support. This was a major reversal and you can clearly see a big "wick" or bottoming tail on Friday's price action.
What I would want to see next week in order to trade long is if the Equity markets are able to follow through on Monday with this momentum. Near term the NQ is still trading below the break of a significant multipoint trendline on the Hourly chart. If early on Monday the market is weak, I will be favoring the short trade setups. (Click on chart to expand) Nasdaq Composite 52 week highs minus 52 week lows indicator went negative in the morning and closed just above zero. Under the hood things are weakening still. The key reference areas, trendlines, support and resistance levels, and developing patterns in the near term and bigger picture are shared each morning in the swing/position trade premium service. A secondary focus in the updates for the month of May when the next subscription begins will be an education on Auction Market Theory. Email for interest. S&P Sees Weekly Distribution and NASDAQ Reverses to Support

The recent concerning theme of Price/Volume continues in the Nasdaq 100
By Scott Pluschau
Diminishing Volume over the past five days of Bullish price action in the Nasdaq 100 futures which can be clearly seen on the one month Daily chart. There is a lack of excitement for higher prices in the US equity Indexes.
The price volume divergence in the US Equity Markets this year is quite bizarre.

There is one position open in the Swing/Position trade model portfolio at this time, and the service is closed to new subscribers in April.
The Hard Asset portfolio has two open positions now, with an open order yet to fill. 7.5% of the capital has been invested and there is plenty in reserve.
Those interested in receiving the weekend update and joining the Hard Asset premium service for the next four weeks can still do so this week. After this weekend that service will be closed for the remainder of the month.

Day traders chart pattern of the day special - Nasdaq 100
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16, 2012
"Railroad Tracks" are a very strong signal for bears and bulls alike. To learn in depth about how to read market signals and create balanced and risk managed trades based on reality (rather than magic indicators and imprecise forward looking analyst statements), check out Scott Pluschau's subscriber service and blog.
In Japanese Candle stick analysis, Railroad tracks are a pair of horizontal green and red long bodied candles next to each other (see the left hand of the chart below) with similar opening and closing prices.
The color of the second candle determines the nature of the pattern. If the second candle is red, it's bearish. If the second candle is green, it's bullish.
Today's Nasdaq 100 is revealing an especially bullish pattern, as the railroad tracks come in the larger context of a trend-line being broken to the upside.

Nasdaq 100 morning report
Wednesday, April 25, 2012
I have no interest in a bullish pricing pattern in the Nasdaq 100 until there is an intermediate term change in trend. I'm not going to ignore a bullish pattern, but what a bullish pattern will do for me is keep my "powder dry", or better known as keeping me on the sidelines preserving my capital for opportunities with a "positive expectancy". A failed bullish pattern will have my attention but until then, it is a sit back a wait approach. Nothing forces me to trade, and if I sit in cash all day with no trades, that is better than losing money for breaking rules. My rules are strict.
I mentioned in the prior post on the Nasdaq 100 a bearish flag pattern and what it means, along with the targets being reached. This same post mentioned how we needed to see what pattern develops next. That post is here: http://scottpluschau.blogspot.com/2012/04/pattern-of-day-nasdaq-100_23.html
Yesterday's post on the S&P 500 explains the meaning or what is underneath a double bottom pricing pattern and why it is something to pay attention to. http://scottpluschau.blogspot.com/2012/04/mature-balance-area-on-s-500.html
Well here are the patterns that developed. Bull Flag flies at half mast. Double bottom target would bring it to about trendline resistance.

Lastly, I know Apple reported earnings, but to tell you the truth I don't care. I saw a headline and that is it. What my focus is on is the auction of the Nasdaq 100 futures and not "rationalizing" anything. So far it is a potential bullish development in the Nasdaq 100, and let's see if things change or progress. That is all that matters.
I do my best to tweet out my posts promptly on twitter/ScottPluschau

source: http://moneymorning.com/2012/01/24/list-of-apple-inc-nasdaq-aapl-suppliers/
In a fortuitous turn of events for investors, notoriously secretive Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) released a list of more than 150 of its suppliers.
But for investors, the list of suppliers is a potential a treasure
trove. Although many of the names on the list were known, some are new
and represent possible ways to play Apple without paying the premium for
Apple stock.
Apple was compelled to release the list of suppliers to mollify critics who accused the Cupertino, CA,-based company of being complicit in questionable workplace practices in parts of its Asian supply chain. According to Apple, the list of suppliers represents "97% of Apple's procurement expenditures for materials, manufacturing, and assembly of Apple's products worldwide."
